Ms Liz Joseph whom got married and was referred to as Mrs Liz Abrahams was born in the year of 1925 close to a place known as Hermitage. By a very soft and young age of a decade she began working as a seasonal member of staff and during those times, there was nothing alarming in regards to a young person undertaking the labour and (Abrahams, 2005) declares that a person could start working at the age of 10. She performed because her family circumstance forced her to do so, due to the fact that her dad, who has recently been a loaf of bread winner for a long time was unwell now and can no longer operate, and her mother was your only one assisting her and the siblings, and so she wished to help her family and also to ensure that her other littermates are subjected to to school. During this time, seasonal staff only proved helpful when there was fruit available and they continued to be unemployed during the time there was zero fruits and thus that intended there was nothing for them to carry out in the industrial facilities (off-season). The girl had a natural, intrusive and questioning heart and always planned to help others and know very well what is going in. Therefore for a very young age she was inquisitive regarding the events around her and this was noticed by Bryma Moerat's father when he said " She's going to travel around a lot, and she's going to travel around far. ” Abrahams Elizabeth (2005: 2).

In 1941 may be that the Food and Canning Workers' Union had begun and this was during the time that Liz showed no fascination and the union represented all the races in South Africa. Since time continued, Liz certainly started to display an interest and at the age of 21 years, the girl became a subs steward and this required that your woman takes part in transactions for employees and during those times they would meet at the Berg River during the night in a car sometimes, in order for them to have conferences amongst themselves.

In 1941 there were even now some people who had been not effectively informed regarding unions and this made all of them ignorant, and the publication Liz also states that there was a time where people rejected to meet and discuss job issues that were negatively impacting them and how things could be combated.
